Green Technology

Doing our bit for the environment

We have a high efficiency Biotech boiler from Austria that uses wood pellets to produce hot water and heating for the hotel.

Wood pellets are a completely sustainable form of fuel, as the wood that goes into making them has to be guaranteed to be from a managed woodland where replacement trees are re-planted – in addition the wood pellets are often made with sawdust that is a by-product from wood being used in other industries, such as to make fence posts or timber for building houses.

Wood pellets also offer us a big carbon saving over burning a fossil fuel – for our 65kW boiler we save about 11 tonnes of carbon emissions per year compared to using heating oil instead.

Check accommodation availability

Whilst we can’t guarantee the Scottish weather, what we can guarantee is a warm welcome and great customer service.

There is always something for everyone to do here no matter the weather, whether it is enjoying a relaxing drink in our beer garden, hiking, trekking or cycling around the beautiful surrounding countryside, or simply enjoying our good food in the warmth of our restaurant.

Situated half an hour’s drive from Blairgowrie, this hotel in Kirkton of Glenisla is an excellent base for outdoor pursuits. Walk out the front door directly onto the Cateran Trail or enjoy numerous other walks. Fishing for wild brown trout or rainbow trout available nearby. Plentiful bird shooting and deer stalking opportunities in the vicinity; and the Glenshee ski slopes only half an hour’s drive away.

The Glenisla Hotel is a special hotel which often lures people back to relax in the hotel, soak in the beautiful surroundings and reconnect with the friendly locals.
